big, bigger, biggestMonsters have captured our imagination for as long as we exist and the movie industry has responded by making them bigger and more powerful. But how big are these monsters in relation to each other? That question started this self-initiated work. During my research, I discovered that a lot of monsters symbolized a specific fear within a society. For example, in Japan Godzilla symbolizes the fear of atomic bombs, which it experienced from up close.
I translated the collective fears into images and combined it with the silhouette of the monster. This creates a broken image that reflects the destructive forces of the monster and the fear that it represents.
